Assistive Technology
The Virginia Assistive Technology System connects Virginians with disabilities, family members, and professionals with assistive technology devices, services and resources to help individuals more fully participate at work, school, home, and the community.
Medicaid Waivers
The Washington State Unit on Aging contracts with 13 Area Agencies on Aging to maintain a statewide Medicaid provider network to serve clients who are eligible for Medicaid long-term services and supports. Northwest Access Fund
Northwest Access Fund, a non-profit, provides funding to people with disabilities in Washington and Oregon so that they may purchase assistive technology and home modifications that support independence. For home modifications, the loan may be up to $40,000 with a 10-year term.
Washington Assistive Technology Act Program (WATAP)
The State Assistive Technology Grant Program, funded under the Assistive Technology Act of 2004, supports comprehensive, statewide programs in each state that improve the provision of assistive technology (often home modification-related) to individuals with disabilities of all ages.
Medicaid Aged and Disabled Waiver
The West Virginia Medicaid Aged and Disabled Waiver (ADW) Program, administered by the State Unit on Aging, provides in-home and community services to individuals age 18 and older who need support services to maintain their independence. Home modifications are an eligible supportive service.
Take Me Home (TMH) Transition Program
The West Virginia Department of Human Resources Bureau for Medical Services administers the Money Follows the Person demonstration program, Take Me Home, under the Aged and Disabled and Traumatic Brain Injury Waiver programs, assisting individuals transitioning from long-term care facilities to receive long-term services and supports in the community. Community Living Services Program
The Community Living Services Program of the Appalachian Center for Independent Living helps individuals with disabilities to function more independently in their homes and communities. The program purchases assistive devices, durable medical equipment, home modifications, wheelchair ramps, and vehicle modifications for people with disabilities who meet income requirements.
Family Care Waiver Program
This program for frail elders and adults with physical, developmental, or intellectual disabilities provides long-term care services that help individuals live in their own home, including home modifications. Aging and Disability Resource Centers are the point of contact for eligibility.
